KORU ACUPUNCTURE AT BODYWORKS
WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture is a medicine system originating in China over 2000 years ago and uses fine needles inserted at specific points on the body. The theory behind Traditional Acupuncture is that it restores the free flow of energy (known as Qi) around the meridians of the body, to promote the body’s own healing response and restore physical, mental and emotional balance.
Western Medical understanding is that the insertion of fine needles stimulates the nerves in skin and muscle and cause neurochemical messenger molecules to be released. The biochemical changes that result from this influence the body’s homeostatic mechanisms to promote physical and emotional wellbeing.
Acupuncture can be used alongside Western Medicine and other therapies in the majority of cases. Whilst many people turn to acupuncture to help with a specific condition, others just use it to help restore feelings of balance and wellbeing. It can also be used preventatively as part of your healthcare routine.
It may not just be needles that are used during your treatment! Dependent on your needs, massage, Dry Cupping, Gua Sha and Earseeds may also be incorporated.
